Brahmagupta existed in ancient India, in the period of the seventh century CE. Considered to be a brilliant mathematician and astronomer, widely revered as the founder of Indian algebra. His pioneering work, the Brahmasphutasiddhanta, outlined a comprehensive approach to algebra, including concepts including zero, negative numbers, and fractions.
